When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of my family getting together and relaxing and of course eating! I remember when I was young , my grandparents would have the Thanksgiving feast at their house. Two long picnic tables pushed together so we could get everyone at the table! My grandmother was an excellent cook too. She made at least six different pies, her pumpkin and cherry were my favorites! Turkey was not on the menu though. What you say! Well, my grandfather did not like turkey. He liked ham. So.... I didn't learn how to cook a turkey until I moved away from home. Thank goodness Martha Stewart showed me how! Thanksgiving today for me is a special day for remembering, as both of my grandparents are gone. Both of them passed away in the month of November. This year I plan on teaching my daughter how to make my grandmother's pumpkin and cherry pies. Lets remember to give thanks to the special people in our lives and cherish the memories of those loved ones who have passed.
What do you think of the new Christmas tree fad? I am still not sure if I like it. What? You haven't seen the upside down trees! They are catching on big time this year. I saw one for the first time in Michael's Craft store. They don't take up as much room, as a traditional tree and ornament collectors like them because they can get more treasures on them. It might look great in a more modern style home than my Victorian cottage. They are very interesting, they come in a variety of colors too. I guess it's not a new thing, according to some websites I have visited, but it was new to me. So what do yo think?
